Prime CT5 - 70 or 80lb limbs

Has anyone shot this bow with 80lb limbs? Cant make up my mind on which to get. Most of the 70lb primes I have had came pretty hot at 74ish pounds which I have liked. Was thinking of ordering 80's and turning down to 75 if I have to.

I ordered mine with 80lbs. Came in at 82.

I haven’t shot since August so I turned it down (3 turns on each limb). Per Prime, each turn on limb bolt is 3-5 lbs.

Haven’t put it on my draw board yet, but I think I am in between 72-75lb right now.

Trying to work my way up if needed.

I like the bow...Just dead center hold at full draw. But the cycle is tough in my opinion. Right before the cams turnover. At 82# is a noticeable difference at that point.

Muley does a bow shop have them in stock? Maybe see if you can find one with 70lb limbs that has a 74-75lb max?

Don't even know why a guy would need 80 lbs anymore? most 70 pound bows put out way more energy than a guy needs. My alloy is 70 and seems hot at that.

I cant speak for the 80's, but the CT5 60's & 70's at the dealer i got mine at were either dead on or + 2 lbs.
Mt dealer said the Prime has tightened up their QC on the limbs and that all of his new one are +2 lbs max.
Mine is a 60 and we get 61.5 after initial set up and tuning

I ordered my CT5 with the 70-80# limbs and have it set at 75 pounds. I wanted to shoot a 500-540 grain arrow about 270 fps, currently my 500 grain arrow is around 275-278 and haven't tested the heavier arrow yet.

It's true I don't need to shoot that heavy of poundage, but with my shorter DL (28.5") I wasn't able to reach my minimum speed threshold when using 500 grains and above on a 70# bow.

The 80s aren't as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Shoot it for a few weeks and it just becomes normal. My Logic came in at 80.2 bottomed out. I expected it to be hotter, but it's spot on. The draw cycle isn't super easy but draw cycles have nothing to do with the bow doing its job anyways. They have a great valley, hold like a dream, and are the most tune friendly bow in production. I think you'd be fine with the 80s.
