Program Recommendations

Hi all. I wanted to get some recommendations for a new program. I've always been pretty in shape with physically demanding jobs and hobbies, but recently had a little one and not having much time for the gym/ hobbies is beginning to take it's toll. I still eat pretty well so it's not out of hand, but want to get back into the swing of things and get back into good shape. What are some programs you guys enjoy that you'd recommend. Simple is better for me. I do have access to a good gym, just not a whole lot of spare time these days. Thanks a bunch and happy hunting!

Hi INgunner. MTN Tough seems to have good programs that will put you to the test. I've incorporated some of the workouts they send out for free into my routine. I wouldn't say I ENJOY them, b/c they are damn intense but they definitely produce results. I've had to start slow and build up to the full intensity level. Nice thing about them for your situation (not a lot of time) is they only take 30-60 min. There's plenty of armchair trainers online, so double check with a qualified trainer, kinesiologist, etc. before diving into the random internet workout ideas .

Thanks Joonyer. I'll check those out. Coach. Good point thanks, I didn't really spell that out in my original post. Mainly just better overall fitness. Lose a few pounds in the process, better endurance etc. I am not new to lifting, and am definitely open to weight training with cardio/ HIIT days mixed in.

If you have a young child maybe get a back carrier and spend some time walking with the young'un.

For basic strength training I usually recommend one of the Wendler's programs

His "Ain't Doing Jack Shit" program is a 2x a week minimalist program.

Endurance is best improved by spending time out whether it's walking, hiking, running, biking, etc..... or a combination of those. Whatever is enjoyable. Don't over think it.

HIIT is great if you're already reasonably fit and have a mind to do it. Find something you don't mind doing despite the suffer factor. Find intervals that are manageable but challenging.

Fat loss is largely diet
Start by tracking your macros.

There are no shortage of apps for tracking food.
