Promaster XC-M 525c vs Old XC-525C

Is the updated XC- M 525C Promaster worth considering if I cannot find an older model hiding somewhere. My brother has the older XC-525C and I really like it. Any real world reviews of the 2 stage centre column? There isn't anywhere to look before I buy where I live so I appreciate honest feedback.

I have the new XCM and I really like it. Just like every other tripod, I try to keep the center column stowed but it does work pretty well with everything fully extended and can use it standing up
