Just returned from my trip to Colorado. Had a scary incident occur that I wanted to share. One morning while sitting on my glassing spot, I decided to make a cup of coffee. Got out my stove that I keep in a stuff sack. Fired up the flame and was warming my hands up before I locked on the pot. Filled the pot and locked it in place. My son and I were joking around and putting our hands around the bottom of the pot by the flames. All of a sudden....BOOM!! A big loud BOOM too! Scared the hell out of both of us. Jumped back, double checked that everyone was OK, and turned the stove off. (It was still on) Everything seemed normal. I waited a bit for everything to cool and disassembled the stove/pot to check it out. To my shock( and totally MY fault) the mini Bic lighter that I kept in the stuff sack just in case the ignition went out fit perfectly inside the bottom of the pot. I didn’t even think about it when I attached the pot to the burner! Basically I cooked it until it exploded! Luckily no one was hurt and nothing was damaged. Not blaming anyone or anything but myself, just passing this along in hopes nobody else makes the same mistake.

That is some scary shit. My shop teacher way back in high school used to say a Bic lighter was equivalent to a 1/4 stick of dynamite. He told of story of when he was a welder and a coworker had one in his front shirt pocket and a spark hit it and blew a hole in his chest. No clue if its really 1/4 stick equivalent but that has always stuck with me. Glad no one was hurt.

That shop teacher was stretching the truth, majorly. But that's OK, it was a good lesson to learn.
