I just purchased a Kestrel and will be taking it on a hunt with me. To get a wind reading do I need to face it directly into the wind and then guess my angle to adjust the wind speed, or do I face the device perpendicular to the direction I'm shooting and then just use the wind speed reading listed as that would be the wind speed perpendicular to my shooting direction.

That's a great question....
I always wondered how one would check the wind 600, 700, 800 yards (or more) away or do you simply assume the wind is "constant" in speed and direction from point of shot to that rib cage?

Until I can get a firm answer I guess I will just get closer...
