The nylon thread is fine. People will debate if nylon or poly is better. The truth is you will never notice a difference. I personally sew exclusively with nylon now. Poly is supposed to have better UV resistance but that is only going to be relevant if you are making something like an awning that is going to see full sun exposure all day every day.

Sewing machines have almost zero value to most people now. If they know you, they are likely to just say you can have it. I was given a juki ddl-552 and a singer 111w153 before i eventually bought a consew 206rb5. I gave away the juki to a member here and kept the singer to leave setup to sew 1/2" foam.

Dang, I wish I had your luck with people giving away old metal sewing machines! I guess I dont know the right people! :) If you are in the Denver area and more people want you to take their old singer or juki look me up! My old machine is all metal, but still bogs down sometimes and I might to clean up the motor etc. It does have zigzag which I think is useful for a few things (webbing "bar tack" and hem on stretch pocket), but then it has useless decorative stitches. I would rather a triple straight stitch (for pack main seem) or some other stretch stitches for clothing repairs... but still cool to learn with... and gets the job done

Just wanted to say thanks for you guys pointing me in right direction. I got my 15-90 running smooth and was able to crank out a few basic pullouts and even did a few with boxed ends. Having a blast with it so far.

Where can I find some 1" metal tri-glides similar to what Kifaru uses to attach pockets to molle? I bought some from Rockywoods but they are a little wider and not as flat. Also looking for a recommendation for which webbing to use to sew up some molle panels? Trying to figure out which webbing to get is making my head spin between all the options without being able to touch it.
