I used R26 for a couple years in everything I reloaded for because it gave me crazy velocity. Once it started getting hot outside I saw pressure signs. I was at the top end. I found R23 to get close to R26 velocity with much better temp stability.

One thing that will tell you real quick if you're near pressure is to spritz water on the case with a spray bottle and then shoot. Basically, simulate shooting in the rain or snow. If your safe load now has a sticky bolt you can be sure you're near pressure.
