Rain Pants: How often do you use them?

For western archery in the states you listed I’ll carry the pants if there’s a chance of rain or cold and wind. Otherwise there in the truck.

I have a kryptek Poseidon rain set, but I was thinking for archery elk in CO, I was going to take my Poseidon jacket, but bring the frogg togg pants to save 8 oz. since I have boot gaiters.

Think it sounds like a decent plan?

I'm in Montana too. I've spent a ton of time in the rain. First two weeks of Sept last year it rained bad.
The pants may get left at spike camp during a hunt but the jacket is always coming. When it's down pouring for days the pants are a God send and so is good rain gear.

I find more value in rain gear being a wind breaker than wearing it during actual rainstorms.
