Travis built this beauty for me and got it done in time for the season.
Specs
6.5 Creedmoor
Rogue action
Broughton 26" #5 fluted barrel in 1/8 twist
Manners EH-1 painted in Desert Gap Camo
BDL style bottom metal
Jewel Trigger
20 MOA rail
Weighs 10 lb 4 oz with an NXS 5.5-22x50

I got it sighted in and did a little check on load development with a mini OCW test from 43.5-44.1 (we figured 43.8 would be the node but wanted to check with my lot of powder and bullets.

Settled on 43.8 H4350 with a 130 VLD at .010 Jump

Once I got the 100 yard zero I fired two at 600 (I set my Windage at 600 yards) made a slight adjustment for spin drift and shot these two at 710 yards. Red was the Cold Bore shot and Blue was the follow up shot. Only 2.3 inches wide with about 1 inch of vertical. The Magneto speed says 2930 fps but I suppose that will speed up a little after a couple hundred rounds.

I think this rifle is a Zero MOA rifle but I am only a 1/2 to 1/3 MOA shooter.

Looking forward to Wyoming antelope and deer in a few days.

Yeah, I love 'em, this is my 4th 6.5 creedmoor. I keep a savage 6.5 under the seat of the truck all the time. I shoot 123 amax out of that one for yotes and such.

These are so much fun to shoot and the components are pretty cheap.

Are you moving to Sweet soon? I was up that way yesterday scouting.

thats awesome! i did not think a creed was that fast with a 130gr bullet. with that round does the 130 with its speed have the ballistic advantage over a 140gr as a 1000yd and under rifle? I guess the question is, what speed would you expect with a 140 out of that setup?

Sweet rig! I have a similar rifle with a little heavier barrel contour in 6.5x47 lapua built by Jon Beanland. I tossed back and forth between the .260rem, creedmoor, and 6.5x47L. Cant go wrong with any of them really.

Travis at Rbros does killer work and he is great to deal with. He built me a lightish weight hunting rifle in .280AI. Its one of the best looking customs Ive seen. He nailed it.

I have not done a complete work up on the 140 bergers yet. My best node was 41.8 grains at a speed of 2760. At those speeds the 130's have more energy and less drop out to 1000 yards. If I can get the 140's to within 100 fps of the 130's then there will be a slight edge to the 140's.

at 5000' asl and 1000 yards the 140's at 2760 have 863 ft/lb of energy and require 27.75 MOA from a 100 yard zero

the 130's at 2940 have 873 ft/lb energy and require 23.75 MOA from a 100 yard zero

If I can get the 140's to 2840 (which I think I can) they will have 928 ft/lb energy and require 25 MOA from a 100 yard zero.

Not much advantage to 140's in a hunting situation other than a little less wind drift and 10 grains more shrapnel for internal damage.

I was debating between the 6.5x47 and the Creed also but in the end I already had the dies and brass etc so I decided on the Creed. I do like the fact that Lapua brass is available for the .260 and 47 but I have had excellent results out of Hornady brass.

I sold off a few rifles and scopes to get this done and I could not be happier.

After that I ran a few over the magnetospeed

I confirmed zero and did cold bore testing at 400, 600 and 800 yards. The wind was towards me, I didn't hold any wind at 400 and 600 but thought it had a little right in it at 800 so I put 1/2 MOA in the scope but didn't need it. The little blue dot is where the 800 yard shot would have been without any correction.

Heading out for Wyoming on Tuesday, very happy with the results and looking forward to a good hunt.

Good luck on your hunt, you're gonna love that creedmoor. The best groups I've ever shot are from my creedmoor that Travis built me a few years ago...it's still the first rifle that I pull out of the safe.

Back from Wyoming, had a great hunt.
I got set up opening morning for a nice 4x4 muley I had seen a couple times but unfortunately before it got to me someone driving down the road saw it crossing the road and shot him. So I walked in about a mile further and shot this spike. Made for an easy pack out.

I then drove to my antelope unit that as usual was infested with people and shot this guy.

This doe didn't run very far after shooting the buck so I shot her too and was tagged out first day by 6 pm

I've had a 6.5 bug for a while now just can't decide on the cartridge. I was set to go 6.5 swede with an upgrade to ackley in it's future. Then I got pretty interested in the 6.5 4s.

What are the reasons you like the Creed so well? Inquiring minds that can't make up their own mind want to know!

Thanks,

Just personal preference, readily available components and factory ammo if needed. Cheap to load for and they kill way better than they should. Also very low recoil and I can spot hits at any range without a brake.
If I feel I need something bigger or faster I take a 7 mag with 180 bergers at 3040 FPS.
