reed material

i have been playing around with making my own estrous elk calls using elk antlers and wondering what i should use for the reed. i went to the local craft store looking for material and they showed me a thin plastic used for templating. what they suggested is not rigid enough to make consistent sounds. i am looking for the reed material they use in the hyperlip or other estrus type calls. any suggestions as to where to look for reed materials.

I have toyed with the same idea. I have turned a few duck/goose call bodies on my lathe which got me thinking about cow calls. There are several suppliers in the goose call community that may have the material you are looking for. I may have some links saved on my home computer if that was the machine I was using at the time. I'll post them up if I find them.
