So due to a move, I just picked up one of my shotguns for the first time in 2-3 years. It's a Browning Gold 12 in that Mossy Oak grass pattern, and the finish on the stocks is Tango Uniform... Basically the best way to describe it is that the rubberized coating has turned to a weird gel. If you handle the gun it will leave a sticky tan/red residue all over you. So my question is, what is the best way to refinish this stock? I'm kinda leaning to soaking them in apple cider vinegar and then sanding them down for primer/paint..

Maybe try an adhesive remover like the 3M automotive stuff. Sounds like the finish is shot so I feel like, what could go wrong???

There is a recall on that stock from Browning. Call browning and they will direct you on what to do. I sent in my ABolt and they stripped the Duratouch off. The turnaround time was about 1 month.
