Greetings all. I'm looking for a scope to mount on a Christensen Arms Ridgeline in .300 Win Mag. I currently have a Vortex Viper Gen ii 3-15x 44 on a 6.5 Creedmore, and I love the scope but it's a bit heavy at 28 oz. I'd like to stay around $1000, but less is better. I prefer to dial for elevation and hold for wind. FFP or SFP doesn't matter. Here are a few of my frontrunners:

1. Vortex Razor 3-15 x42 LHT. Sells for about $1,000 and I think it's under 20 oz.
2. Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x44. Right around 22 oz. and I've found for around $870.

Let me know your thoughts and any others worth considering.

The Zeiss has been great for me , the glass is really nice. Windage is a plastic cap though . The stop is solid and the lack weight is nice. I got mine from Redhawk rifles as a demo unit, you can not tell it was a demo.

I put a VX5-HD in 3-15x44 on my Ridgeline in 30 Nosler. The bulk of the scope is manufactured in USA and the glass is excellent. I’ve been dialing and it’s right on the money so far. You should be able to pick up a VX5-HD below your budget. With the 15x magnification it comes in under 20 oz.

The preferred scope I would consider would be a Nightforce NX8, but that was above my budget at the time.

Just put the 3-15x50 Razor LHT on my Ridgeline. It’s not too bad so far and will be testing it further on a mountain goat hunt on Kodiak in a couple weeks.
I like the reticle and the clarity is pretty good except it has the typical Vortex blackness at 15x. It’s no NF but then it’s have the cost of the NXS that I typically run. Wanted to keep the weight down.

The Maven RS1 2.5-15X44 is a touch heavier ~24oz I believe.

I have the Viper HSLR 4-16X44 one my 300WSM and its a solid scope, but the tight eye box drives me crazy. Always takes an extra second to get behind especially in the field with awkward shooting positions.

I just mounted a Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x44 on my XBolt 28 Nosler. So far I really like it. I also have an older Swaro, Leupold VX2, Sightron II, Bushnell Elite 3200, Burris Veracity and a Bushnell Forge.

I like the weight, eye box is forgiving, glass is clear, and the dials appear solid. The mag ring is stiff. It's a bit shorter than my other scopes. I have a longer LOP and you are limited on how far back you can mount. But I still like it.

I'm would swap out a couple of other scopes with one but all my loads and turrets are set up and spot on.

Be advised the scope is pretty short/compact. I had a heck of a time finding rings that would work on the Rem 700 LA without a rail. It couldn't be done and I had to go with a 20moa rail.

For a comparable scope for a little less coin, check out the Tract Toric 3-15, I had the V4 and like the Tract better on a hunt rifle. The glass and turrets are fantastic.

I was just recently was looking at those two scopes plus the VX5 and decided on the Leupold. Dial for elevation and use the windplex reticle for hold over.

Fyi on the Ziess, the V4 is made in Japan. You gotta step up to the V6 now to be made in Germany. I don't think there's anything wrong with made in Japan as I have several Vortex scopes that I like alot, including 2 LHTs. Just wanted to make sure you were aware as some folks might think all the Conquests are made in Germany because they did use to be.....

I would go with the Zeiss. I have the Vortex gen ii 3x15 that you are looking at and regret it immensely after having looked through a Zeiss V4. I got the Vortex at a steal of a price so I could not resist it. Now I wished I had waited.
