I've decided to put a new stock on my early 2000's Model 70 in 7MM. My main reason for changing is to lighten the gun and maybe get a bump in accuracy. I'm leaning toward the Mcmillan Hunters Edge but I don't know much about properly sizing a rifle. I'm 6'4+ and I add about 1 1/4" to my shotguns to get them to come up with clear view down the barrel. That started with putting the gun in the pocket of my elbow and seeing how my fingers landed on the trigger. From there I've made adjustments based on the gun and how it comes up. Is that a starting point for rifle stock length? What other things should I be factoring in? The Edge looks similar to the stock it came with so I'm thinking it will feel pretty good but I want to make sure I'm maximizing comfort and performance. Any suggestions on the fit or resources on sizing to check out would be appreciated. I should add I don't shoot much more than 400 yards and even that is very rare.
