Ring height ? Tikka tac a1

So I have a Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 scope need to mount it to a tikka tx3 tac a1. Not sure if I should go 20 mil base or just rings. But dang I don’t know what height I need ? Any body with a tac a1 and a 56 mms scope ?

Base on the Tac a1 is proprietary and while you can get a 20moa base on there it will no longer be flush and/or work with the floating hand guard. 1.250 I believe is the height I have on mine and clears a 56mm nxs. I can confirm that tomorrow though.

I would greatly appreciate it. What brand of rings did you go with ? I was thinking about Nightforce or badger if going std. rings. Or go with a Nightforce unimount 20*, but I don’t know the extension length or height needed.

I have the NF 1.375” 0 MOA unimount. I would go a 1.5” mount if you wanted 20moa built into it. Can barely put the rubber cover on the scope from NF. Does slip on all the way either and gets hung up on the pic rail ridges. Nice and tight fit though.

Damn, that looks good ! Are you off the receiver rail on the front of that mount( I see now it’s not quit off) ? And yes I was thinking it may require 1.5 “. Thank you, and the picture really helps to.
Mind if I ask, what is that thing that protrudes out ( towards you) under the scope, behind the mount , has a knurled knob on it ?

It is right at the end of the receiver pic rail, and that is a us optics bubble level. Great little piece! Folds away when not in use.

Hey I should have asked this first, how far can you shoot with the 0 moa base ? You have 100 moa ( scope) I have 80 moa adjustment. Do you use all of yours at 1000 yards ?

I have 48.75 moa of adjustment as it sits. With my load at sea level I can go 1250yds before holdover.

Well, went with the night force with 20moa ,.50 height. Will see if it works.
