I've had a bow in my hand for too long and I need a few suggestions. I'm pretty set on this rifle in Kuiu Verde and Carbon wrapped barrel for my new backcountry rifle. It is spendy for me but this is one time hunting rifle purchase. My 25 06 and 30 06 came down from Father and Grandfather. They are heavy and not really what I want to backpack with.

This rifle comes in
28 Nosler
.308 win
30 06 SPFLD
6.5 creed
6.5 PRC

I intend to chase up to and including elk with it so I was leaning toward the tried and true 30 06. Though I already have that chamber. I don't really know anything about the other cartridges. Any reasons the PRC or .308 or 28 would be better ?

I have that rifle (non camo) in 30-06. I run a hybrid suppressor on it and really enjoy shooting it. I'm sure alot of high speed caliber junkies will chime in, but hard to argue with good ol' 30-06!

Any reason to pick the 30 06 over the 28 Nosler ? Or vice versa ?

I have the non camo version in 280 ai and really like it. I think the 30-06 would be a great choice.

As far as 30-06 vs 28 Nosler. I would say 30-06 for +/- 500 yards and 28 Nosler for further. 30-06 will have more affordable ammo and longer barrel life. 28 Nosler is faster and flatter.

Of those choices listed I would go with the 6.5 PRC. I know its available in 280 AI in the non camo version, that would be my 1st choice if you arent set on the Kuiu pattern

I'll read more on the 6.5 PRC. I was really trying to stay off the 6.5 wagon but maybe it's a good wagon IDK

That should be a great setup, there's some good YouTube videos that show its out of box accuracy, its pretty impressive!!
