Got a Savage 12FV Thanksgiving, had a gift card + rebate = $ 208 for rifle & $ 219 for Vortex 6 - 18 - 44mm Crossfire II, using Federal 223 from Walmart.... It can flat out shoot. Cheapest rifle I own...LOL

Never heard a bad word about the 12FV's even though I know a lot of folks that just buy them for the action when they go on sale, and sell the barrels and stocks.

I read the same thing, stock is a little flimsy on forearm, but it is free floated barrel too. I don't think a new barrel would help that group & my gunsmith said don't mess w that rifle....LOL

I've thought many times about getting one in .308 or .223 just for a range gun. But I've had range guns before and I always get bored with them. Maybe that's because I only have a 300 yard range. LOL
