I really wanted one of the new Savage Lightweight Storms in 30-06, but they only offered them in .270, so I bought one and rebarreled it with the barrel from an unfired model 16 30-06. After installing the barrel, I trimmed it an inch to 21" and recrowned it. It wears a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 with the excellent "tri-moa" reticle in Talley medium rings.

The combo tips the scale at exactly 7 lbs.

I carried this through the snow and mountains of Colorado for my elk hunt in October, but otherwise it's only been to the range with me. I've put about 125 rounds through it. Sub-MOA is routine with this rifle and I will be happy to provide load data and 50 pc. of Nosler brass if you're a hand-loader. It shoots 168 TTSX, 165 GMX, 180 Accubonds and 150 TTSX's all equally well.

This is a great rifle, but my 7mm-08 Lightweight Storm covers all my needs, and my son wants the same rifle in .308. I also just added a vintage Savage 110 in 30-06 and need to make room in the safe so this one is up for sale.

I'll post pics asap. Below are two pics of the crown job I did on the '06 barrel.

I'll ship to your FFL in the U.S. for $700 all-in or $500 for just the rifle and Talley rings. I have the original factory box and papers I'll ship it in.
