Never thought I'd break this one up and I REALLY never thought I'd sell this barrel, but here it is. My son wanted my LW Storm rifle, but he wanted it in .308, not 7mm-08. So today I pulled this barrel and it's up for grabs.

This is one of the most consistently accurate barrels I've ever owned. Shoots just as well, if not better than any of the four Tikka rifles I owned, and they were all very good. You can see some examples of groups I shot with this barrel and various loads.

This barrel came off a Lightweight Storm that I bought last summer. I've put approx. 350 rounds down the tube since then. Took 3 deer with this barrel at 204, 227 and 217 yards and every shot was within an inch of where I was aiming. The barrel is 20" and approx. 0.575" at the muzzle. It weighs 1 lb. 14 oz. with the barrel nut on it.

It is not sensitive to various bullets. It shot 140 Accubonds, 140 TTSX, 120 TTSX and 131 Hammer Hunters very well. The Hammers screamed out of this at just shy of 3K fps and printed some 1/2 MOA groups. The first pics here have notes but the last pic is of 120 TTSX's over Varget at 2900 fps.

I'll not let this one go easily. We'll start at $250 shipped to your door and I'll drop the price by $10/day until I have the first "I'll take it." The smooth barrel nut comes with it, but there are some marks on that nut from where I removed it, so please keep that in mind.

You're buying a proven shooter here in an ultralight barrel, and better yet, Zero wait time. If you're looking for a Savage fit barrel for your ultralight mountain rifle build, this is your opportunity.

**** As a bonus, I'll throw in 50 pcs. of Nosler 7mm-08 brass. 37 have been shot 1 time ea. and 13 have never been fired. This brass cost me $50 just a few months ago.****

Thanks!

Wow...I’ve been following your posts about how good of a shooter this rifle is. Made me want to get a LWS. Can’t believe you are parting with it. Best of luck on the sale.

I did the exact same thing. He’s a good salesperson.

Yea, I hope I don't regret this decision, but I decided to go to a .284 Win custom barrel on my long action LW Storm, and that will make the 7mm-08 LW Storm a bit redundant. Plus, my son loves that rifle - he just wanted it in .308 and not 7mm-08.

My initial tests with the .308 barrel (a model 16 taken off a Lightweight Hunter, so same length and profile) are very promising. Two un-developed random loads both shot right at MOA with zero workup, and neither of those bullets (what I had leftover from other projects) are particularly accurate which is why I had leftovers. I think with a good workup and premium bullets, his .308 Lightweight Storm is gonna be just as accurate as it was with the 7mm-08 barrel.

But I really thought long and hard before I broke that barrel nut. I hate to break apart a great shooter!

So I missed yesterday's $230. I guess that makes today's price $220.

Keep in mind you're getting about $50 worth of brass with this barrel.

My bottom dollar was going to be $150 and that's where I'm at now. It would be silly for me to sell it for any less, and in fact I'm not even sure I'll sell it for that much to be honest.

Any idea if this would be compatible with a Ruger American action? I feel like I read somewhere that Rugers are copies of the Savage barrel nut style. Might make a cool frankenstein project.
