Long story short, I’m tired of dealing with exchange a blade knives and watching guys fling used blades all over the mountain while I’m wedging them into my case and dealing with them later. Even have found the used blades stuck in stumps by some elk carcasses... I had a handle start to come apart on one and you realize just how flimsy these Chinese made knives are..

I Saw a photo of a guy with a knife in a Eastmans that I instantly loved the blade shape. Hunted down the maker and after some epic instant response communication, I ordered one of Zane’s High Country hunting knives with custom handle color and the upgraded Elmax blade for under $150!!! I read up on his steel options as I’ve been a fan of S30V and Elmax came with epic reviews with zero corrosion and is used by Spyderco in some high end models so I decided I had nothing to loose for this price on something I probably will have for ever.

Zane said it was about two weeks to get the knife I liked, but a week later he sent a picture of it completed asking if I wanted to purchase it. (Was given a quote of 1 to 2 years from other knife makers). His finish work is second to none! Even the shipping came with laser cut foam. One of the only full sized handles where I can fit my pinky no problem, but still have a nice short skinning blade.
It weighs nothing and is a true razor. Unreal service all around. USPS took the damn knife all over the country for weeks and weeks even though he shipped it same day priority mail, but total worth the wait.

I’m in no was associated with this guy and don’t know him from Adam, but unreal customer service is huge to me and increasingly rare so I try to pass on the good word anytime I run across this kind of finish work and communication.

It looks really nice. It should hold an edge really well, but since it is stainless, remember to touch up the edge every now and then while doing any cutting with it. Once it gets dull, it is harder to get an edge back on the stainless than the carbon blades. As long a you touch it up and keep the edge sharp, it should work really nice.

I hear ya cluckin big chicken! I have been a critic of the switch blades myself. Seems like a wasteful short cut and yet another divergence from good woodcraft like just sharpening your damn knife. I recently acquired a WE Banter in S35V. Took it hog hunting in TX. There is nothing like a muddy hog hide to dull a knife. Performed very well. A quick stroke on a diamond hone after each hog was all it took to get edge back to wicked. Should make it through knocking an elk apart.
