So has anyone done the spring bear hunts in SE arizona? My company's got a remote office in tucson so I can work out of there and go spend weekends hunting out there pretty easily. ( Can do it out of phx as well but easier to camp near tucson ) I've hunted javelina out there but never gone looking for bears out there and trying to figure out the following :
1. When do they start coming out / activity level in later march / april
2. Elevation / terrain type they are in for early spring
3. Feed at that time of year. The wyoming and Idaho bear I've taken were all on grass...but not a lot of grass in the areas I've hiked out there!
Figuring do that for two or three weekends and then roll over to NM for spring turkey on the way home.
Was planning to get a bear tag no matter what since we saw one this year up in northern AZ on my kids cow elk hunt ( and I did not have a tag unfortunately).
