I grew up in NV. No matter where or when we camped, there were always critters trying to climb up the sides of the tent at night. Mice can climb pretty high on a canvas tent. Without a floor one deer camp we would have been overwhelmed with rodents.

After 30 years in AK I agree with Luke about bears vs desert critters. Bears are easy to see, and can't hide under my bag. Too bad I can't squish them with my boot.
