Well, it's hard to believe another season has passed us by. Crazy where the time is going. I had a great year in '19, with plans for 2020 to be even better. Unfortunately I didn't update the '19 thread as I would have like to do. Just never seemed to be enough time for everything.

Wishing you all the best for this year.

Use this thread as your own as well, I like to hear about all your stories, travels, successes, and adventures as well!

2019 was the first year in 12 years that i did not fill my elk tag with a bow. I did the unthinkable and lost my Bull. The arrow hit bone and did not penetrate..knew it was going to happen at some point...but it still sucks.

Bomber buck less than 400. Wind was good, they were working my way when two other hunters tried to get between is. Blew them out. Frustrating. 3 hours in 85° temps in full sun wasted.

Had a few stalks yesterday. Highlight of the day was a 1 mile stalk that ended up 38 yards from a bedded buck. Two hours in the blazing sun was enough. Threw five rocks at him, the only five we could find. He wouldn’t even budge. Then threw Leupold Full Draw 4 at him, and it literally lay 4 yards from his bed. Still no movement from him. 20 minutes later he finally stood, and I was able to draw and go through the shot process. Upon release it was perfect, when arrow got there, he was 5 feet away laughing. WTF?

I drew a Utah CWMU antlerless tag this year and it the quickest I have ever filled a tag for sure. I had a friend along who is familiar with the unit and he put me right on them. We drove up the mountain, got out of the vehicle and immediately heard chirping everywhere. We went maybe 100 yards and found them in the meadow. I took one with a slightly quartering to shot and she dropped just out of sight about 100 yards away. We got out of the truck around 4:30 PM and we were driving back down the mountain with a quartered but elk by 7:30! Almost more like harvesting than hunting but I'm not going to argue with a full freezer.
