Wouldn't ever feel bad about that type of hunt WMR. Not like you get those opportunities very often.

Any word Les?

Two days until I’m supposed to head into spike camp for mule deer (or elk if they’ve been pressured into my zone). I cut my foot on Monday and started antibiotics Thursday for an infection that knocked me off my feet. Hoping to be ready for Monday’s hike in, but we’ll see. Weird start to the season, which probably means really good things to come.

Tight work wmr. I hope Les filled his tag too!

im chomping at the bit for bow season. So close, but the damn big Fire has me worried.

i Have a rifle cow tag for December/January and it could go like wmr.
Same here, working on another plan for OTC tag. Good Luck to all of us!

Decided to stick around home a few days longer. Winterizing the yard and the house, and doing a little goose hunting with Hunter. It was a beautiful morning. Starting to pack my western fall trip gear as we speak tonight.

He scouted these birds on his own, went to the landowner and asked permission on his own, and then we set up on them and put the hurt on them. Pretty cool to see the transition of him doing it himself. Doesn’t seem so long ago I was in his shoes. Where does 30 years go?

A fine base camp has been set, and I have been covering some country on foot.
Stripped down to a T shirt by noon every day. No elk yet. The Heat wave is about to be broken, possibly snow on Tuesday. No bugles yet.4716CEF6-632F-472E-AFA1-87A496205D9C.jpeg

I have been doing pretty good on trash detail, anybody lose their release?

Back home for a night. Hot shower and wife cooked meal were only a short drive away. Best luck all, enjoy the hunt.

It was crazy hot in Wyoming this week, but I still got one bull to play with me on Saturday. I watched a video seminar with Elknut last week about an early season bugling/rattling sequence he's used. I brought in some large muley sheds, snuck in close to a bedding area and was able to call this guy in to 25 yards.

Nice bull, Bowtech.

I’ve been in hunting in Colorado since Saturday. About 35 miles of hiking. One cow and a calf is all I’ve seen so far. No bugles or cow calls at all yet. First year elk hunting. Thinking it’s time to try a new area or figure out how to hunt elk instead of whitetail HAHA!

Beautiful country though.
