Eating iguanas seems not far enough from Chinese eating the shit in wuhan...not that it can't be good, but many made a fuss about their "exotic" foods, and here we are talking about eating vermin.

Americans have commonly hunted/eaten things like: frog legs, alligators, rattlesnakes, rabbits, squirrels, opossum, raccoon, crawfish.

The iguanas eat plants. As long as proper handling and thorough cooking I wouldn’t be concerned.

I’d be more concerned about proper handling/cooking of chicken/poultry. Pork has risk of trichinosis. The FDA even lowered the standards on what’s allowed in ground pork products.

I’m sure you could, the noose works better (50 lb mono) because they can have some weight to them. But the gigs I have are flimsy frog gigs.

When I was in TX I built a gig for carp and gar that had some mass to it. Sounds like a blast if there was anywhere you could legally find decent numbers

Sure would be fun if you had a large piece of property that you could shoot some on (especially during shelter in place). I would think Florida has a lot more invasive species than just iguanas that could be "hunted" (lionfish, teague/monitor lizards, large pythons, parakeets, etc.). I remember seeing a documentary saying how the area surrounding Miami Airport was practically a zoo as people would try to smuggle in animals in crates marked as something else. Customs opens the crate and a monkey/lizard/bird would hightail it out and head for the trees.

Iguanas are a pain for us in SW Florida. Boca Grande was actually paying people to hunt them at one point. No one cares down here if you kill them.

I live in Central Florida and we don’t have iguanas. However I visit my in-laws in South Florida and see them all the time.

Last time I was down there, my wife was driving us back from a restaurant and as I was looking out the window I counted 33 in a 10 minute drive. They were all siting near the ditches on the side of the road. I’m sure there were even more that I didn’t see.

Lots of rain last several days from Eta. The canal across the street was out of its banks. I haven’t seen iguanas like I did today. Took 6 out with my 25 cal pcp.

Dang!
the lockdown has me cruising YouTube. In Florida people are sniping the lizards with air guns.
looks like a blast. I just checked and my airgun fits in my airline rifle case.

is this really a thing? sanctioned by fish/game?

im tempted to buy a second rifle so my brother will go with me.

after the virus madness of course. Airline tickets are gonna be inexpensive I bet.
Now, that sounds like fun!
