Shorter Barreled 30 magnums

I've been doing a lot of digging around about this topic and I am curious who out there has one and what your velocities are. I know @Ryan Avery has a 30 Nosler with a +P throat which I am considering since I live in the same area and Shawn Carlock is about 20 mins away. I am curious what you guys are getting with regular chambers with 200+ gr bullets.

I have a healthy supply of RL26 and 225 Elds and about 250 pieces of 30 Nosler Brass so the choice is pretty simple that I will continue with this round. I am thinking of a 22" barrel since the current one was a 26" and I think I'd like it a lot better if it were shorter.

About to build a 20" 300prc shooting the same bullet but I only have N570. Have You played with N570?

QL shows N570 being about 75-100fps faster velocity than RL26 w/215's.

In those bigger cases where you have the extra room N570 is going to be King with regard to velocity but in the smaller case capacity 30's like the 300WSM RL26 is the velocity winner. N570 is some of the bulkiest powder out there so it favors those bigger case capacities.

If I could get a 215 going 2900 or even a 225 going over 2800 I'd be pretty happy. Every animal I have shot with a 30 cal magnum I have always been a little disappointed with how much meat I am feeding to the birds.

With good brass a 30 nos in a 22” should do that

I have a 24" 30 nos and get 2975 with 220 LRHTs using H1000, a 22" barrel will easily get you 2900 with 215’s.
I tried RL26 in mine and it was actually slower than H1000
If you're worried about meat loss then the 225 eldm will really disappoint you, they make a mess.

They all make a mess unless they pencil through. Anything making 4000ft lbs at the muzzle is going to be hell on meat.

The super bulldozer 2 bullets from badlands I used this last fall had very little blood shot meat. Could eat right up to with in a half inch of the exit hole which was the size of a quarter. I was very impressed with its performance.
Impact velocity was 2250 whitetail buck 652 yards. Wish I had taken photos of wound Chanel etc
