For those of you that actually use short mag cartridges (6.5 PRC, 270 WSM, 7 SAUM, etc...) in short barrels, ranging from 15" to 17" long.

What Titanium suppressors do you recommend for short barrels (down to a 15"), that would include cartridges like the Short Mags (6.5 PRC, 270 WSM, 7 SAUM)?

7ish inch suppressor length wise

There is so much out there, it is a bit overwhelming

I have cut the Otter Creek Infinity out because of it's weight.

The Flow 7.62 TI seems to be a good choice as does the Thunderbeast Magnus-S-CB-30.
You guys might have another TB can in mind as well.

What would you add to this list?
Looking for real world experience here-Thanks!

Ernie

With the weld-separation issues being rather prevalent with some Ti cans, I'd be thinking hard about a printed can. Haven't gotten around to fooling with it yet, but I was recently looking for something light to run on a 19-20" WSM project, so I went with the DA Nomad Ti XC with a DD Ti direct-thread adapter. Goes 8.8oz and suppresses really well on my 18" 6.5CM. Have yet to hear much about printed Ti cans popping apart when being used on magnums and short magnums.

Thunderbeast ultra 5 and 338 ultra is what I use for my 18” 25SST and 20” 300 PRC Imp. I’d say the Magnus S is a solid choice. I have other cans but they’re not rated for short magnums.

There are a lot of options now days but a can for a 15” 270wsm narrows that down quite a bit. The flow 7.62 Ti when tested at the 2024 suppressor summit was 2decibles louder than the tb Magnus S. I don’t know much about the flow through cans other than I thought they were designed around semi auto platforms and I’m assuming your running bolt guns.

With the muzzle blast to barrel length minimums spec’d by many suppressor makers, coupled with how much gas you’re giving up, I’d think harder about a 18-20” minimum barrel length. I love a short rifle as much as anyone but there’s a point of diminishing returns too.

Not a rifle.

Yes, bolt rigs.
Like the ones pictured above.

Ernie, as @JPro pointed out, weld separation issues are starting to show up with various manufacturers and welded Ti cans.

The Dead Air Nomad XC is a solid option as are the other “printed cans”.

Just got my XC and it sounds as good as my standard Nomad 30. Shortest barrel I have shot it on so far is a 13” 7-30 Waters, but it also sounds great on my 19” 6.5-06AI and my 20” 6.5 Max. I would have no qualms putting it on a 15” 6.5 PRC or equivalent.

Excellent.
Thanks for the information.

Ernie your like the short barrel fairy, anytime someone posts how you can’t put a magnum in a short barrel cause it doesn’t work or some other bs I just think about the hand cannons you have built!!!!!

Thanks! Your post put a smile on my face.

Since the late 80's, I cannot tell you how many times, I have been told on forums or in person:
You are making things up.
That can't be done.
You didn't shoot that far.
There is no way you killed that big game animal or prairie dog that far with a specialty pistol.
You cannot use the same powders that rifle length barrels use in your short barrels.
That is not efficient, so you will have terrible accuracy.
You can't use that cartridge in a action that is shorter than a short action Remington action (338 Lapua Improved/338AX by APS/Kirby Allen is the largest I have ever had built).
You will have to take the bolt out of your XP to load it, and even unload it after you have fired the shot.
You can't use a high magnification rifle scope on a specialty pistol safely.
And the list continues....

I had a omega 300 that blew up 2 times lol weld failure on a 24in 300wm lol shot the baffle stack to the 200 yard line l. welds def fail ended up switching to tbac cans as it got annoying that my rifle was turning into a spear gun…..would have been cool to get a kill with the can though…….

I’d go TBAC Magnus S. Or K if you really want shorter and lighter. They’re rated down to 12” barrel length for the short mags you listed.

ETA I use the CB mount with all my TBAC suppressors. Works great!

My main deer rifle this season will be a 16” 6.5 saum with a Banish Backcountry. I used that suppressor on a 16” 6.5 creed last Season and thought it was great. I’ve only shot it on the range (wih muffs) with the saum this summer but so far I like the combo

I mean clearly the Scythe is a front runner. Unrestricted barrel lengths on Magnums (obviously). Short. Light.

Unlike most suppressors that gain small amounts of weight from carbon build up, these seem to lose weight.

Win-win.

My shortest Short Mag is only a 20” though.

Welcome to the land of people trying things and believing evidence produced by trials! It’s called Rokslide, cool pistols or actual hand cannons!

No way. Look up the Scythe failure thread. Their (SiCo) claims are BS.

You didn’t see the sarcasm in that……

In all seriousness, my nomad Ti XC with a new DT adapter and endcap is the same weight as the scythe and roughly 1/2” longer. It’s a bit quieter too. Haven’t tested it below 20” on a magnum though.
