A new sheep/goat rifle joined the Fieldcraft this week.
A custom by Double Broomed Mountain Rifles. Built around a Kimber 84m action and an Adirondack stock.
Chambered in 338 Federal.
Lilja 18” barrel, fully bedded. Tungsten Cerakote.
Trigger Tech trigger.
I topped it with a Nightforce NX8 1-8x24 F1 Mil. scope.
Weight is 6 lbs 2 oz scoped.
I’ll be packing this when solo in high density bear country and when in terrain that I know I’ll be able to get within 400 yards.

Hoping that it likes Federal Trophy Copper 200g. as I just won a Gun Broker auction on 5 over priced boxes!
I prefer mono bullets and don't reload at this time. I have not had a chance to shoot this rifle yet. In its previous life as a 6.5 Kimber Adirondack, it would shoot hand size groups at 600 yards.

Yes. Shot a pretty good billy out of Smithers BC. Coincidentally I should be picking up the rug from the taxidermist next week.

Hmm, I was just wondering what to do with my 6.5 mountain ascent. That 338 you have is sweet! May have to do something similar as I’m a big fan of the 338 federal.

Ruger 77 mark II in 300 win mag.
180 grn accubonds
This is no light weight at 9.5lbs, but puts some serious power down range. Moose, sheep, bears it doesn’t matter. For 2021 I have a swaro z5 on it. This rifle produced a 1.17” group at 400 yards off the bench in April this year. Factory rifle I bought used, timney trigger. Once in a while a guy gets lucky with a basic rifle like that.

Been using the same rifle for big game for over 30 years, Winchester Model 70 pf in 270 topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5x10x40, panted synthetic stock, running Federal Vital Shok 150 gr Nosler Partitions. It's been a great rifle for me and has taken a lot of game over the years, hope to put a dall ram on the ground this fall along with a big bull moose.

Its a plains old 308, it does have a titanium bolt handle which I probably wouldn’t bother with again, It weighs ~ 5.75lbs. Great for carrying around.
Boring old 308 is my favorite round! I’ll take one of my 308’s over about any other round. I was up with goats and was gonna test 308 with 180 PT on a griz but it ended up a sow with cub.

308 is a good round, that particular rifle has probably been used more than all my other rifles combined.
