Here's another WA buck...not the biggest, but definitely one of the oldest. Almost all of his teeth were gone and his antlers were hollow, super unique!

Will really old buck's antlers tend to hollow out as they age? Wasn't aware of that... pretty interesting.

I'm not sure, I have never encountered one like that. The core of his antler looked like a sponge with lots of hollows and cavities, you could probably shine a light through it if you cut one of the tips off.

Sounds like osteoporosis in humans. Happens as individuals age, or in the case of nutrient deficiency. I could see this being the case in an older deer that is not as capable of getting the food/nutrients needed when they are in the process of growing their antlers during the spring/summer...
