I’m planning to build a carbon fiber hunting rifle in 300 win mag. I haven’t decided on action yet, probably one of the new lower priced custom actions with Remington 700 footprint. I’ll be using a proof research barrel and a carbon fiber stock not sure on that either but probably something from Manners EH line, but possibly a McMillan with edge tech. Show me pictures of what you have built and how you like it, anything you would do different next time?
Thanks

I built a pair of Bighorn short actions. A TL3 in 6.5 creed and a SR3 in 6.5 PRC. Both are in Manners EH6A's with Proof light barrels, TT Diamond triggers, ARC M-10 rings with Bushnell LRTSi and LRHS scopes. The creed is 20", the PRC is a 22"...

Not really a buold, more assembled, but 28 nose Ridgeline CA. Spartan Javelin bipod, nightforce lightweight 1 peice 30mm 20 moa, leupold vx5 3-15×44. Love it so far. The mount was a pain because I had to relieve the front due to it being slightly longer than the scope was and was hitting the objective bell.

I’m building one in a .300 WSM right now to save a little weight off the long action. Doing an HCA carbon barrel in the summit contour and a defiance deviant hunter action. I’m kind of lost in picking stocks right now. Thinking an EH1 because I like the cheek rise it has. Or the AG composites carbon stock.

Beautiful rifles, what do they weigh without the optics?

I have an EH1, an AG alpine Hunter, and a McMillan Game Warden. If you want a higher cheek weld for shooting prone and you will for sure be running run a 44-50mm+ objective, my advice is to go with the AG Alpine hunter. It has the highest cheek weld of the 3.

I do like the EH1, and I particularly like the grip and forend more than the AG, but the AG is more comfortable to get behind for me because the cheek weld is much more natural when shooting prone.

Also, mike built my 300wsm and it happens to be the one in the AG stock. You’re going to love it.

300win mag. Manners Mcst, Remington action and a Christensen barrel. If I get the itch I might do a 300 prc or maybe a big 7mm of sorts. Next time it’ll be a proof barrel, not that I have had any issues with this one. Shoots lights out.

How does the proof sendero light fit in the eh6? I have a eh6 sitting around doing nothing. It might need a action and barrel.

Tom said the proof light would be the biggest contour he'd inlet into an EH6. Aron, the recoil difference is negligable between the creed and prc(slightly more). Brighty, look at them EARS....

Here's a few of mine, personally my favorite is the second, Kelbly atlas action, TT diamond trigger, manners eh1, sendero 1:9 in 300 norma improved. I HIGHLY recommend the atlas action, it's super smooth very rugged, and they're not too expensive. Another the great action for a low price is the defiance tenacity.

Well dang, guess I am a dummy. I was looking at that deers right side and it looks like a whitetail. That still a really nice animal regardless of what it is!

What are you 300wsm guys shooting out out of your WSM’s

Due to time last summer I just hunted with the factory Hornady precision hunter 200gr eldx this year and took 2animals with it and worked great. The Nosler 180gr trophy grade also shot really well and was a little faster....

I will be working on load development this spring and not sure what I will do yet, leaning towards sticking with the 200gr eldx bullet because it did so well this year, just would like to get it going faster.
