Does any one have any experience with the sierra game king bullets, i was looking at putting together a load with the 300 grain BTSP for my .378 weatherby.
I shoot them in my 6.5x55. They work well at standard caliber velocities. But, at magnum caliber velocities their cup and core design comes apart. For a Weatherby I'd choose a bonded bullet for hunting.
I shoot them in my .338Ultra. Been loading them for years.
A bunch of elk and a few bear have fallen to it.
At the time I started loading them, choices were limited. None of the bonded poly tips existed.
And the Bergers were just for punching paper.
My only objection is thier soft tip. Recoil smashes the tips of cartridges in the magazine.
At some point I'm going to switch to either the Interbond, Accubond or Scirrocco.
But it's hard to turn your back on a proven load.
Hunt'nFish
Federal at one time loaded em in 375 H&H and I Killed a few moose with em.
They were quite accurate.
I had one bad, unexplainable failure and quit using them.
A yearling forkhorn moose, broadside in a farm field and he didn't go down at my shot.
A follow up shot dropped him but when skinning, I found the first bullet has been fragmented prior to impact
leaving several small, irregular entrance holes and 2-3 inches of penetration. There was no brush in the way.
Go figure!
