Sight mounting question

I have a new UL Knight that I put on a Willams peep rear sight with Marble dovetail and a Lyman globe sight for the front.

my question is how to properly fix the globe into the dovetail? It slides in from one side but goes past center with no effort? Is this normal or is the dovetail machines to much?
And if normal what should I do to pin it into place so it never moves?
Any help would be appreciated!

Cut a piece of a pop can as wide as the base of the sight. It can be longer....but not wider. Slide it across the cut and slide the sight on top of it. If it's too tight, you can get thinner shim stock. If it's just right, drive the sight home and cut the re sealing can with a exacto.

Ok. Thanks! I will try that.

The pop can method will work, but if using aluminum in contact with steel you have the potential for added corrosion from the dissimilar metals. Get yourself a cheap feeler gauge set from an auto parts store. You have several different thickness options that way and if you make sure it is steel or at least brass you can limit the corrosion potential.

Ok. Thank you. I was wondering about that. I think the thickness of a can would be to much anyway.

Peen the dovetail slot a bit. I put something like a 1/2" socket on its side in the slot and tapped it with a hammer to bend the lips down a bit checking against the sight dovetail till there as some reasonable resistance, then I drifted the sight sideways to the center it up.

Ok. I will consider that for sure. I’m going to try and see if I can find a good shim first. Then might try that if not happy with the shim idea.

Unless they have lock tight they shouldn't be that hard to get out.
Where you located man?
That ramp with only one hole is pretty weak.Put a williams 2 hole on mine. I had to drill and tap mine, kind of scary with the thin muzzle wall diameter! but it came out great.

I didn't feel like I was tapping on it to hard but obvious was. I like the idea of two holes. thanks.
