Recently got a new bino harness and was looking at ideas for a elk reed holder rather than tearing them up goin in and out of the front pocket. Then I was cleaning out a drawer and found an old headphone holder. Works great and a lot cheaper than buying some of the online options I found.

Thought I share to see what others have done besides the hard plastic primos cases.

If the material is breathable it should work. If it doesn't breath and you put reeds in it after use they will mold which is very gross.

I've tried a bunch of different options and found the options from bendable products to work best. I use the reed wallet thingy to hold backup reeds in my pocket and I have two of their clip on reeds holders in my hat, one for my cow reed and one for my bugling reed.

Good point a mesh version would be better. I wonder how hard it would be to make a pouch like that out of mesh. I saw the ones you reference but seems a little expensive.

For the hat one have you ever lost any reed or damaged one?

yeah, kind of spendy for what they are but they work very well.

I've never lost a reed with the bendable products reed holder, but I have lost many with the cheap knockoffs on Amazon. Saved 10 bucks on the holders but lost 40 bucks worth of reeds worth to them...lol!

That’s why I’m looking for something. My old bino harness had a mesh pocket in the inside. At $10 a reed it’s sucks tearing the latex or losing one. The hat clip is interesting but $11 seems high for what it is. They have what I want but it’s $22

The clips are 2 for 14 bucks, so 7 bucks each. Still expensive for what they are but they do work and I've never lost a reed with them.

I use a $1.99 pill case from Walgreens. Two compartments, exactly a reeds size, holds 4 reeds. I don’t leave them in long term. Takem out when at camp, no mildew/mold issue.

My bino harness (Vortex) has a mesh pouch on both sides (wind checker goes in the other side) that I use for my reeds. It has elastic at the top, and the mesh allows me to see which call I want.

I use an old dental floss container. Free, available, white in case it drops.

The Bendable lanyard looks cool. But a little spends for what it is agreed…

If that pouch is expendable, I'd just cut punch some holes in it and then touch a flame to the edges to make your own mesh version.

That’s what I was thinking. I have two of these pouches so I’ll experiment with one.

I took a very similar squeeze coin purse type thing made of pleather and modified it for holding reeds. I was also nervous about the breathability so i took a hole punch and popped 6 holes through it.
