Bought both the AM-284 and the AM-254 to see which I preferred (stability v. weight) and decided the extra 7oz were worth it for me. So, selling the 254.
This is an oft-overlooked tripod from Sirui that is more compact than any of their other offerings as it has no built-in center column (they offer one as an add on). It has four sections, three leg-positions, folds down to a bit over 17" (without the head), and weighs 2-1/4# (again without the head). Max height before putting a head on it is just shy of 4' and with a head I was able to use my angled spotter without bending at the waist (I'm 5' 10").
Comes with everything it originally did, including spike feet and a carrying bag. Throwing in the ball head (PerGear TH3 40mm ball) in case you don't already have a head you like (this one will tide you over until you can get a proper head like a VA-5 or a leveling base). It is Arca-compatible, and will easily hold a spotter or binoculars, and has held my 8# rifle (see below).
