Cost aside, which would you go with? I am 5'9" so any of them will be fine for my use standing height wise.

If I want to use an 85mm spotter while standing, should I definitely go with the ST-124 or ST-125?

Is the ST-125 lighter than the ST-124? According to goHUNT it is, but on Sirui's website they are identical.

I assume ST-124 > ST-125 > T-024SK in terms of stability, but how big are these gaps?

Thanks

Good morning.

If you have an angled spotter you can use any of them standing. If straight then you are better off with the 124 or 125. The 124 and 125 are virtually the same weight. The advantage of the 125 is it folds down smaller. Both of them are excellent tripods

the 124 and 125 were not available when i bought the other option. from pictures it looks like 124/125 packability is better so that is what i would choose now if i had a choice.

I have the 124 that I bought from Doug and team @Camera Land and absolutely love it. It's not as compact as I want, but I have zero complaints. Paired with a VA-5, I think it's a great all around tripod.

Bumping this back up as I'm contemplating the same thing. I have been using the T-024 for the last 2 seasons, and while it seems to work fine, I would prefer something that packs down a little shorter and more compact.. I know the 125 is more sturdy than the 024, but I'm not sure I've ever thought I was lacking stability while using 10x42s or my 65mm spotter, although maybe my ignorance is bliss. My hold up is that the 125 is .84# heavier (13.5oz) according to Sirui's website, and I'm not sure its worth the added weight..

Has anyone used both and have any input?

The 2 main advantages of the ST series over the T024 is it's taller and has built in spikes. The T024 is actually sturdier as 4 sections is sturdier then 5 in a similar built product

Sirui lists both the 024 and 125 at 59" max height.

What about the sturdiness between the 024 and 124 - both having 4 leg sections.. or a 125 at sitting height. I assumed the 12_'s were sturdier with their larger diameter legs and added weight?

I think if I was going to upgrade to a 12_ series tripod, I would likely use the 125 since it packs down smaller, and 95% of my use is sitting.

The ST series is better built and taller plus you have the spiked feet built in, along with the rubber feet. If you are running the ball head on the Promaster and using binoculars you are fine. If you are using a spotter, then the VA5 head is far superior
