Hey all,
I have a 4 day fishing trip in Sitka, AK late July-early August of this year. Starting to think about gear. This is a Lodge trip so the only thing I need to somewhat dial in is day wear and drinking clothes for the evening.

Any tips or layering suggestions. First time in Alaska and first time spending all day offshore on a boat.

This desert rat doesn’t want to freeze his balls off in AK.

Current plan:
Prana brion pants
Synthetic shirts
Mid weight jacket
Down jacket for lodge
Rain jacket
Maybe rain pants?
May need to upgrade boots, right now I run non water proof because AZ is dry.

Any other suggestions or am I overthinking a charter lodge stay?

What size boat, most big boats you don’t even need rubber boots, but I have to have them on when I’m on any kind of boat. I would bring rain gear for sure, and you may want a layer Under your rain pants if it’s real chilly.

How did you end up doing for king salmon and halibut ?
We did great on both. Had fairly calm seas the entire time and caught some nice sized kings and halibut.

In regards to clothes for anyone else in the same predicament.

They had Grundens bibs and jackets for use. Additionally they had xtratuff boots.

My daily wear was:
32 degrees long John on wet and rainy days
Skre hardscrabble pants
Grunden bibs
Skre 150 merino long sleeve
Skre mad trapper hoodie
Skre ultralight jacket (the grid fleece one)
Skre rain jacket

Overall the system worked well and I never got overly hot with the layers and only got a bit cold the first day but I let my base layers get soaked at one point.

Sitka was a blast and can’t wait to return.

It rains a lot and it’s humid there. I’d take good raingear with vents and layers that dry fast and don’t get too smelly.
