I need puffy pants. I was elk hunting and got cold during glassing and during the final sit of the night.

The Sitka hyperdown pants are $500. I initially wrote them off. But i have a 40% off coupon. So for $300, I am considering them.

What sort of experience do folks have with them?
Why are they $500 when the others (Kuii, SG, etc) are $300?
Are they durable?

Just handled them at a store today. Thicker than the stone glacier but I don’t know what the fill power is for either of them. Definitely not durable, typical puffy material. @Tony Trietch were you the one that reviewed the hyper down stuff?

I ordered them last week. I should have a pretty good idea of how they handle up here in Fairbanks. I'll post some pictures in 2 weeks when I get my hands on them.

I have the kuiu super down lt. They are super warm and very light. The outer material is slippery nylon that makes me think it would snag easily. I have had them for one season where I hunted from a blind so they did not get any woods travel

These are 27D face - HUGE inner leg diameter compared to most pieces. That carries all the way to their lower leg opening. They are super easy to layer on/off with as a result though.

The hyperdown jacket is one of my favorite pieces, ever, but it could also better if the fill wasn’t just the primaloft gold down blend - good example of Sitka hitting a price point vs “building the best.” So while heavier than it could be, it’s still supremely warm and well cut. The pants with this fill, cut and face fabric end up being a touch heavy. Nice. But all together the suit ends up being significantly heavy.

I have them and really like them for late season puffy pants. If weight is a big concerns and you don’t need as much insulation, they might not be the best choice. They’re about as durable as tissue, so not a great outer wear piece.
