Going to be in Salt Lake City for a week soon. Wife wants to play in the snow if there is any.
Being opportunistic, I plan on bringing the 3wt, a Tenkara rod and my fly box.
NO city parks or reservoirs, would love to do some hiking in to some trout water.
Never been to Utah,
Is this even doable in December?
Ideas appreciated.

All of the resorts are currently open, pretty limited on runs though, if the wife wants to ski. There’s snow up high on north facing slopes but not a ton. You could fish the streams in any of the canyons outside the city, Mill Creek has native cutthroat if you’re interested. If you want to get into some bigger fish, bring a 5wt and go up to strawberry reservoir, if it’s in the next week or two there probably won’t be any ice and you can catch some big cutthroat on streamers from the shore. I haven’t been up to any of the lakes recently but I imagine most of the ones you hike up to will be frozen. You could also fish the Provo river, you have options.

The lady and I fished with Jeremy earlier this year. Had a great time and Jeremy was great. Highly recommend him.
