Based on my use of the 7r you can't go wrong with exped. I'll find my comparison doc and post a screenshot of it.
One more question on your Exped. Did you have the mummy style or regular? There is a bit of weight difference which has me leaning towards mummy.

Regular. I don't mind a couple extra ounces for better sleep. The exped 7r has given me some of the best sleep I've ever had in the backcountry.

Following. In the market for a pad and really have no experience. I prefer the best "buy once cry once" but that is hard sometimes based on the price of things. Well, unless you can find a sale. Currently looking at the Nemo Tensor Alpine large/wide. Its specs fits what I think I'm looking for but have read they are thin. Currently $121 at REI Outlet. However, the little voice in my head says I will regret no getting the Thermarest XLite NXT.
