It's been a boring day as is evidenced by my interest and participation in this thread :D But I did manage to load up some 454 rounds this evening and will be skiing tomorrow! Have a great weekend Roksliders! This one has been interesting.

Here's a screen shot of one of the drawings from the US Patent site of the Kelty Scherer Cinch.
Inventor: Scherer; Michael J. (Boulder, CO)
Assignee: American Recreation Products, Inc. (St. Louis, MO) (Kelty)

Like the Kifaru and others, it's just a metal or plastic loop on the belt for the waist belt to slip through giving you a pulley to tighten up the waist belt. As those of us know who have used this system it works darn good. A simple pulley... "Cheap but effective" I'm glad the Kifaru belts have it, no matter what the legal/patent issues are.

Looks like the patent is for the whole system, not just the pulley ( part 61 & 71). Therein lies the difference, 2 different systems.
