It's been a hot one over here in southwest Missouri but I don't let that get in the way of me thinning the local squirrel herd. Ole Betsy and me took a walk around my property a few days ago and killed these two young-n-tenders. Poor little things would have died of heart disease in any event what with all the fat they had on them.
While I truly love my 12 gauge smoothbore for squirrels, I've had a hankering for a small caliber squirrel rifle so I called up my old buddy, John Pruitt, to make me one. I had some walnut cut off my farm and I sent that to him to use as stock wood. He's building me a 32 caliber flintlock with a 42" Rice barrel. This is a photo of the stock he cut out (left). He's in the assembly process now and should have the gun in my hands in a week or so. The cost was the price of parts plus some homemade cookies so I can't complain about that!
