Absolutely simple to make great smoked meats. Select your wood (2 oz is usually plenty) and temperature then let it work.
If you like fiddling with wood, fire and temp control then Cookshack is not for you. Your guests think you're a pit master when you really spent the day mowing the yard or shooting your bow while the Cookshack did the work.

was an electric smoker guy for years with the masterbuilt. After trying the Traeger i wont ever go back. More expensive to run but the flavor difference is amazing. I will say i wont be grilling on it as i dont think you get a great sear but fish, chicken, brisket, ribs, etc. have all turned out amazing.

I just finished refurbishing a free to me smoker someone was going to throw away. Little grinding/sanding, paint, new thermostat, and cleaning previous owner’s neglect and I have $40 in it. That being said, look around classifieds. For a little sweat equity you can get a good setup for cheap.

Curious - did you have a cold smoker attached to it (the masterbuilt) or just stand alone/smoke generated in the smoker alone?

No cold smoker on the Masterbuilt. I did try salmon a few times on it and didn't care for it as much. Smoked one on the Traeger and turned our great but definitely not the same as the cold smoke.
