I finally got to move back to the mountains many years older and somewhat wiser. I used to love snow shoeing but I remember all too well how my old atlas 9x30 shoes would sink through the powder making a short walk an all day affair. I’m planning to get out in the creek bottoms with my 13 yo to chase some rabbits and predators soon and I’m looking for a pair of traditional snow shoes for deep powder, working through willow thickets, some forested areas and rolling terrain. I’ve been looking at a pair of Maine guide rabbit hunters and curious if anyone has used them in deep dry snow (above 8000’ in CO) and how they float? I’m 6’ and 240 with all my gear and a day pack on. Any insight?
Thanks y’all!!
