Sock liners for high country hunting

What kind of socks do you all use for early season high country hunts? Do you use a merino liner with uninsulated boots or liner plus lightweight sock?

Thinking about get a pair of crispi Nevada boots if this makes a difference on what you would wear.

REI silk liner under lightweight Smartwool socks has worked well for me. I take 2 pairs of each and alternate between them day to day.

I went to merino toe socks and it was a game changer. I used to get hot spots between toes.....no more. The best part is the several days before they stink.

Nylon liners (I think most of mine came from a PX on a military base) under good merino. This combination has worked well for me for years.

In the early season I wear one pair of And1 synthetic socks from Wal Mart. They have worked well for me and they are cheap.
