We are going to Pagosa Springs for 3rd rifle season. Anyone been to that area 1st or 2nd season? What's happening with the elk?

Good luck. I'm west of there and didn't see much success out here for first season.

Archery season seemed to be pretty light on the success %'s, first rifle seemed the same, and second rifle is going to be starting out very warm, so third and/or fourth could be pretty productive. On the other hand, I'm hoping that this year goes down as a very light success year and next archery season has big bulls running around everywhere.

No snow, maybe a little this coming Mon,Tue.

We always at least started out hunting high for third rifle, that's where the bigger herd bulls were after breeding. Most of these bulls wouldn't come down until we had 3+ feet of snow.
