Spark Holes

I’ve had my Kifaru eight man tipi for over a decade now. I’ve used it in all kinds of terrain and all kinds of weather. Couldn’t begin to count the number of nights I’ve used the stove. Over the course of all those nights I’d also have a hard time counting all the spark holes my tipi has acquired. At first I was concerned the spark holes would lead to leaking, but I’ve come to the conclusion the only damage they cause is cosmetic. I’m curious if canvas tents also accumulate spark holes as the years go by, and if so do they lead to leaks? Just curious....

Yes they get small ember holes. Not sure if it causes any leak issues though, mine had a liner and it was always well below freezing when I used it.

Yes, canvas tents get spark holes and some will leak. Had one right above my cot. A small piece of duct tape fixed that for the trip. We have always tried to use wood without bark to keep the embers down.
