I used it for 2 seasons with exceptional reliability. If you spend time in the back country alone, or even with others, give yourself and your family peace of mind and carry this to check in. You can set two preset messages to send to your contacts. This device also has S.O.S capability as well. If something were to happen back there you just push the S.O.S button and a search and rescue will be on the way. I'm only selling because I picked up a Delorme inReach last year. These sell for $150 new from Cabelas, and REI.

Yes. if I remember correctly it's somewhere between $100-$150 for the year subscription for unlimited messages.

So what the chart is saying is it's $15/month but you have to purchase a 12 month plan? As oppose to being able to do a month to month plan?

You prepay for the year. I think it breaks down to being around $15 per month. $149 per year.
