Just finished setting up Stone glacier tarp with antics. Fits my needs well.
It can fit two adults just a little cramped but will be great for me and my 12 year old son. With tarp, antics and 16 stakes around 18 Oz. The brown bags are kifaru supertarp and antics weight, the only reason why I'm comparing them is because that's what I have.

You will lose some room with SG bug tent segment of this system. Overall I think it's a great system for my needs. Very fast set up time also.

Good looking set up. Really thinking about this one, the weight is right and it looks like it would be plenty of room in there for myself and some gear. The issue I do see is the use of treking poles however. Because these would now be used to set up my sleeping shelter(good multiuse though) they would be unavailable when I ventured out to do day hunts. In alot of places I keep my treking poles on me or in my pack while hunting away from camp.

I usually carry my camp with me while hunting. If I were going to make a base camp I would just use sticks.

I never have ever considered KUIU tent, but I am considering the re-designed summit 1 person tent because it uses only 1 trekking pole allowing me to have one for my day hikes and stalks.

I think the idea of the Stone Glacier Sky Air is it being so light and compact it could be used in situations where you didn’t actually have a basecamp or spike camp and just carry everything on your back and camp where you end the hunt day. That way say you find a sheep or goat pretty far away from camp you just sleep at or near where you end up glassing it up at last light and get on it again at first light. That way the use of trekking poles isn’t an issue because you are gonna pull the whole set up as soon as you wake up and go after the animal. If you did use it as a base camp tent or I am thinking it would be possible to just by a set of tent poles to set up and leave it there. REI has some lightweight ones and KUIU had there poles on clearance recently.

I agree, and the design is also a great idea, unfortunately it’s not SG’s.

This is basically a through hiking shelter, which is how SlingFin appears to market it. The modular design, linked inner and the vestibule are all nice touches, and the width is great.

The original Kuiu 1p trek tent was really only wide enough if the door was open, but the side entry was nice. Since the new one has a bit larger tarp and is modular, it seems like a good move. But unless they’ve changed fabrics, their floors are extremely weak. That’s one detail that impresses me with the SlingFin/stone glacier collaboration stuff, they seem to be using top shelf materials.

I'm hoping that SG adds in their Tub Footprint like their Skyscraper 2p tent. Would certainly add to the versatility in wet climes of this setup.

I like the guidelines but I did swap out to a more robust stakes, just my preference and it only came with 6 stakes.

I’ve got one of these shelters too and have gone to the mini-groundhogs. It comes with six stakes, but could use 10. The guy lines seem okay.

The fabric feels more substantial than I was expecting for the weight, I’ve only set it up to seam seal it, but it was a pleasant surprise. Pretty stoked to use it this year!
