Looking at maybe getting a smaller lightweight tripod, something for backpacking and glassing while sitting. I have a Vanguard aluminum tripod that goes to 62", it's just a bit heavy at 4.5 lb. Mostly be running 10s, also have a 65mm spotter I might use. May also try to use it as a rifle rest. Found the sirui traveller 5c, 54 in and weighs 1.87 lb for tripod only and it's like $95. Seems like a good deal but curious if there's other options I'm missing. Would like to stay sub 2lb as well.

Vortex summit ss is in that neighborhood also. Sometimes aaoptics has refurb tripods for about 75 bucks

I have the Vortex High Country, think I paid under $70 for it (look at aaoptics for when he gets shipments in, or just on Amazon for used ones). Its been a solid tripod for me. Super light, can take off the bottom segments if you want to get lighter, head isn't bad for what it is. It holds my Viper 65mm spotter steady. Just realize its not a $300-$400 tripod that is sold for $100, its still a budget tripod.

I also like the lever locks vs twist and lock. Deploys and adjusts quick. But your preference may vary.

Forgot to add, with just the bottom segments, and the hook on the center column removed my high country is 29.6oz.

I would strongly suggest the Promaster 3412, only issue is 2.5 lbs with the head. Right now members here get 15% off Promaster and Sirui tripods using the code TS21 thru the end of May. Normally $159.99, we have it on special for $134.99 and then after the 15% it costs $114.74. Plus it has a 3 year no fault warranty. Maximum load with the supplied head is 11 Lbs

Here is a link to see it

AA has refurb tripods currently going quick. Just grabbed the summit SP for $55. The High country is currently $30 which is cheap!!! I went with Summit as it seems to be better quality and packs down to 14inches tall. It’s right at 2lbs. This will be my lightweight tripod.
