Sub 6lb 6.5 PRC?

I have 6.5 CM for long distance and smaller game. I like the 127 LRX and think the 6.5 prc gives me a bit more on elk with max distance of 500 yards. Probably not it’s true use, but low recoil, hard hitting , flat shooting seems great for a mountain elk rifle.

I'd you want a 24" sub 6# you'll be running a thin steel barrel, ti action, and an all carbon sporter style stock.

Thanks for all help. The browning pro tungsten looks promising. Adding a SWFA SS HD 3-9x42 will still keep it a reasonable weight and extend my range a bit. Can make my current 24” fieldcraft 6.5 CM my light weight set up.

You might want to wait until after shot show to see if any other manufacturers are introducing the PRC for 2020. Personally I plan to do a barrel swap on my kimber subalpine 300wsm to 6.5prc. With bedding/re painted stock and a 22.5" barrel it should be 7lb scoped. 40mm vx3i/talleys
Any lighter and I'm sure my ethical accuracy would suffer beyond 300 yards.

Along with new rifles, there are more ammo makers planning to release in 6.5 PRC as well pretty soon. But the tungsten does indeed look like a nice rifle. I've been considering one myself.

For 900$ you can get a proof prefit in 6.5prc 1:7.5, the only challenge is getting the oem barrel off. I think they have Icelandic world champion strong men on 20' cheater pipes making things up in the sako factory.

I’m gonna test out a 5.5# Seekins Element 6.5PRC 21”bbl. Element bbl is .700 at muzzle, so maybe a bit Stiffer than those pencil bbls.
talked to a guy who’s getting 2793 with factory 143. His buddy’s at 2845.
Both Elements. Good accuracy also.
Hand loads would improve that.
I’m gonna try some 124 Hammer’s
3000+ should be no problem
Should make a nice Deer/Antelope rifle .

Please, tikka make the varmint in one ! Not sure if your into Sauer, but they chamber a few in 6.5 prc.

Seekins has a custom shop, might could order one that route with your bbl. choice, & still keep sub 6#.

I shoot a 22" 6.5 PRC with the 156gr Bergers at 2895 fps with RL26 without pressure. Barrel sped up from 2853 to right at 2900. Using 55.0gr of RL26. ADG brass and CCi200 primers. At 55.5gr it's even 40fps faster but it gets me out if that 54.5-55.0gr node I got going for me. Plenty of speed if you ask me out of the 22" tube with 156gr pills, so I would entertain a 21" with how this one has been working so far.
