Looking at picking up a pair of els. Seriel number is D89xxxxxxx. From what I see add 30 to the 89? 89+30=119. 2019 mfg date or am I missing something?

Serial number is based on manufactured date, not date of sale. Call Swarovski they will give you full history.

Yeah I get that, bought in 2020 and mfg in 2019 makes sense. I just am wondering about there seriel number dates. Why add 30 to 89 and get 119 instead of some how ariving at 2019.

I may have found some info on a birding site. Possibly 119 for January (1) and 2019 (19) . No idea if that's right or not.

You're looking at it all wrong, not 119. Think of it this way, 1930+89=2019, not 119. Or you can break it down further...1930+70=2000+19=2019. Has nothing to do with January of 2019, it's just Swaros way of telling you how many years after 1930 the product was made. Now, if you want to know when in 2019 they were made you will need to call Swaro.

Got ya, that works for me. The binos are a 2019 model. Just wanted to double check that the date code seemed right.

I've asked Swarovski this, the formula is that the first two numerical digits +1930 tell you the year of manufacture:

D89XXXXXXX is 89+1930=2019

The 3rd and 4th digit give the week of manufacture, so D8934XXXXX would be week 34 of 2019.
